Shelter Surf Tip #2 – Bottom Turns

Bottom Turns //

The bottom turn is the most important turn in surfing. Any major maneuver will require a quality bottom turn. A simple start to improving your bottom turn is to focus on touching the water with the hand closest to wall. This will help you get lower, force you to lean off the board to create the holding phase you need to generate speed and power to perform a major move. Here’s Shelter Surf Team rider & Canadian National Women’s Champ 12 year old Mathea Olin showing perfect form.
