Shelter Surf Tip # 3 – Pop Up

Shelter Surf Tip # 3 – Pop Up

Pop up, look up //

The first thing you do when you catch a wave is pop up. A common problem a lot of intermediate surfers have with their pop up is that they look down at their board while trying to stand up. In general, where you look is where you go and this often means wiping out or getting caught behind the foam. Once you catch your wave take the time to place your hands, then look up and look down the line. This will hopefully calm the nerves and help create direction on the wave as you spring up to your feet.
